Planning something the chart doesn’t cover — a bigger flock, bantams by the dozen, an odd-shaped shed? The coop size calculator works for any flock from 1 to 50 birds and any breed size.

What the chart covers

The chart uses the comfortable planning figures for standard hens: 4 sq ft of coop and 10 sq ft of run per bird, 1 ft of roost per bird and one nesting box per 3–4 hens. Here is the full table, exactly as printed:

Bantams need less: 2–3 sq ft of coop and about 8 sq ft of run per bird, with the same roost and nesting-box allowances. Large, heavy breeds need more — about 4.5 sq ft of coop and 12 sq ft of run per bird. Both notes are on the printed chart too.
